The Diablo Flat Edge Sanding Sponge is a 4" x 2-1/2" x 1" foam-backed hand-sanding block with abrasive on every flat face. The flat-edge geometry reaches into inside corners, along straight edges, and across contoured surfaces that rounded sponges and orbital sander pads cannot.

The 180 grit (ultra fine) abrasive is for pre-stain and pre-finish smoothing - producing a fine scratch pattern that takes stain evenly without sealing the wood pores.

Tip: 180 grit is the standard stopping point for wood that will be stained. Sanding much finer than 180 partially seals the wood pores and can make oil and gel stains absorb unevenly.
