Installation Tip: In softwood (pine, fir, plywood, pegboard) drive by hand or with a hook-driver bit until the shank seats. In hardwood (oak, maple) or trim work, drill a pilot 1/16" smaller than the shank diameter to avoid splitting. For panel mounting in drywall use a 1/4" toggle anchor or hollow-wall plug - the screw threads alone won't hold weight in gypsum. Slip the open end of an open-end wrench or pliers over the shank for extra leverage on stubborn driving.

Selection Tip: The 3-1/16" size is the largest hook in the family - sized for heavier shop and garage loads (coiled garden hose, rope coils, extension cords, larger hand tools, bar clamps, helmets) where the deeper throat keeps loops securely seated.
