COLEMAN CABLE PVC JACKETED THERMOSTAT CABLE - 20/3, 500 FTColeman Cable 20/3 thermostat wire is designed for low-voltage HVAC control wiring between the thermostat, furnace, air handler, and condenser. Features 3 solid bare copper conductors with color-coded PVC insulation and a smooth brown PVC outer jacket that resists snagging during long pulls through joists, wall cavities, and crawlspaces. Also serves doorbells, chimes, irrigation valves, security panels, and other 24 V Class 2 control circuits.
- 20 AWG solid bare copper conductors
- 3 conductors, color-coded PVC insulation under a brown PVC outer jacket
- CL2 rated per NEC Article 725 (Class 2 Power Limited Circuit Cable, max 30 V, 100 VA)
- Smooth round jacket eliminates snagging during long pulls and easy strip-back for terminations
- For indoor general-purpose runs; not rated for direct burial, wet locations, or return-air plenums
- 500 Ft roll
- Single-stage heat/cool thermostats with a separate transformer setup, or 2-wire thermostat runs with one extra service conductor for spare/jumper use
Wiring Tip: Standard HVAC thermostat color code is R = 24 V hot from transformer, W = heat call, Y = cool call, G = fan call, C = common (24 V return for thermostat power), O/B = reversing valve on heat pumps. Label both ends of every run during the pull so you don't have to ring out conductors back at the wall plate later.
Plenum Tip: CL2 cable is for general-purpose runs through joists and wall cavities. It is NOT rated for return-air plenums, vertical riser shafts, or commercial drop ceilings used as return-air paths - those require CMP (plenum) or CL2P-rated cable per NEC. Verify the installation environment before pulling cable.
