HANSON METRIC PLUG TAP - M8 x 1.25The Hanson M8 x 1.25 metric plug tap cuts internal threads in steel, aluminum, brass, and other free-machining metals. High carbon steel construction holds its edge through repeated hand-tapping work in auto repair, small-engine, and bench-shop applications. The 4-flute plug-style geometry chamfers the first few threads for easy lead-in, then cuts full-form threads down most of the hole - the standard general-purpose tap shape.
- M8 x 1.25 mm thread, coarse pitch (standard for M8 fasteners)
- Plug tap - chamfered lead, cuts full threads after the first 3-5 threads
- High carbon steel (HCS) construction
- 4 flutes for fast chip clearance
- Use in a standard tap wrench or T-handle
Tip: Drill the tap hole with a 6.8 mm bit before tapping (the standard tap-drill size for M8 x 1.25). Use cutting oil on steel; tap dry on cast iron.
