Tip: 17-gauge wire nails sit in the middle of the range -- a balance of holding power and minimal splitting for screen molding, small trim, and light panel assembly. At 7/8" it handles small molding and screen-frame corners with bite into the second piece. For exterior or damp-location work, switch to a galvanized finish nail instead -- bright nails will rust.
