Inlet Selection: The 1/2" MPT (male pipe thread) inlet threads directly into a 1/2" female-tapped boiler/tank port or FPT tee. Choose MPT when the boiler/tank has a tapped port without a projecting nipple (common on side-port water heater drain locations and hydronic system manifolds). For a male-stub port, use the FPT version (222LF (1/2" FPT)). 1/2" boiler drains are standard for residential water heaters, hydronic system isolation, and hot-water boiler service.

Installation Tip: Wrap 2-3 turns of PTFE thread tape clockwise on the pipe-thread inlet, thread by hand into the boiler/tank port, then wrench an additional 1/2 turn past hand-tight. Do not over-torque - bronze threads strip more easily than steel. The 3/4" garden hose thread outlet accepts any standard 3/4" GHT garden hose or hose cap for safe controlled draining.
