ANKA NYLON FEMALE ADAPTER, BARB x FPT - 1" x 1" (88005260)The ANKA nylon insert female adapter joins polyethylene (PE) tubing on the barbed side to a male threaded fitting on the FPT side. White nylon construction is stronger and more chemical-resistant than polypropylene, and the 1" barb is sized to a slip fit inside Schedule 40 nominal PE pipe and SIDR PE pipe (verify which standard your line is rated to). The 1" female pipe thread accepts any standard male NPT nipple - brass, galvanized, stainless, or PVC.
- Barb side: 1" insert for PE pipe
- FPT side: 1" female NPT thread
- White nylon body for chemical and UV resistance
- Compatible with ASTM D-2104 Schedule 40 PE and SIDR PE pipe
- NSF Std 14 / 61 listed for potable water (verify production lot stamp)
- Cold-water service - rated to 100 deg F continuous
Installation Tip: Cut the PE pipe square with a tubing cutter or PVC saw. Warm the cut end in hot water for 30 seconds to soften the wall, then push the barb fully home until the pipe seats against the shoulder. Slide a stainless worm-gear clamp or pinch clamp over the second barb ring and tighten - one clamp for above-grade, two clamps for buried or pressurized irrigation runs. On the FPT side, apply 2-3 wraps of PTFE thread tape on the male nipple and hand-tighten plus 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Nylon threads strip easily - do not use a pipe wrench.
Selection Tip: 1" barb x 1" FPT serves multi-zone manifolds, pump-to-valve runs, well-pump pressure tank discharge laterals, and primary supply trunks on small-acreage systems. The 1" FPT side mates cleanly to PVC ball valves, brass shutoffs, and most pressure regulators.
Note: Cold-water service only. Nylon softens above 100 deg F and will fail at water heater outlet temperatures - step up to brass or polypropylene rated for hot service, or use a transition to PEX with brass insert fittings. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure on above-grade runs (nylon becomes brittle); bury the run, sleeve it, or use a UV-stable substitute. Verify local potable code accepts nylon barb fittings on the supply side before installing on house service.
