BARON GRADE 70 TRANSPORT CHAIN WITH HOOKS

Baron Manufacturing Grade 70 transport chain is heat-treated alloy steel cargo-securement chain assembled with clevis grab hooks on both ends. Grade 70 is the standard for over-the-road truck and trailer tie-down work - the gold zinc dichromate finish marks it as Grade 70 to roadside inspectors at a glance, and the assembly meets DOT and SAE J1023 transport chain requirements.

  • Material: Heat-treated alloy steel, gold zinc dichromate finish for visual Grade 70 identification
  • Diameter: 3/8"
  • Length: 20 Ft
  • End fittings: Clevis grab hook on each end - slip a link into the throat to shorten the chain and remove slack at the binder
  • Working Load Limit: 6,600 Lb WLL - do not exceed; transport tie-down use only, not engineered for overhead lifting
  • DOT compliant: Meets FMCSA 49 CFR 393.108 cargo securement requirements and SAE J1023 transport chain spec
  • Inspect each link and hook before every use; remove chain from service if any link shows a nick, gouge, twist, bend, stretch, or heat discoloration
  • Hooks are factory marked with WLL as required by FMCSA for legal tie-down qualification

Tip: Workhorse size for mid-range transport - pickup trucks, full-size SUVs, mid-size construction equipment (mini-excavators, skid steers, small backhoes), and heavier farm implements. Standard for flatbed semi tie-downs. 20 ft length is the workhorse cross-deck and corner-to-corner length on standard flatbeds and gooseneck trailers. Federal regs require the aggregate WLL of all tie-downs to equal at least half the cargo weight, with a minimum of four chains for typical multi-axle loads. Grade 70 is for transport only; for overhead lifting step up to Grade 80 or 100 alloy lifting chain.
