Application Tip: Wet the brush briefly in water before latex paint (or in mineral spirits before oil) and spin it dry -- a primed brush picks up paint more evenly and washes out cleanly. Load only the bottom third of the bristles, tap the excess against the inside of the can rim rather than wiping across the lip, and finish each stroke by lightly lifting the brush rather than dragging to feather the edge.

Care Tip: Clean immediately after use -- water-base paint with warm soapy water, oil-base with mineral spirits. Comb the bristles straight with a brush comb, wrap the head in the original keeper or heavy paper, and hang the brush by the handle rather than resting it on its bristles. Properly maintained, a polyester brush stays usable through dozens of paint jobs.
