WATTS REINFORCED NYLON FEMALE UNION - 1-1/4" (88005295)This 1-1/4" reinforced nylon female union from Watts joins two male threaded pipe ends with a hand-tightened swivel nut at the center, letting you break the line at the union without cutting the pipe or disturbing either threaded run. Glass fiber reinforced nylon body delivers higher pressure capacity, better dimensional stability, and stronger thread engagement than plain nylon, with strong chemical resistance for irrigation, fertigation, and washdown lines.
- Glass fiber reinforced nylon construction
- Female NPT threaded inlet and outlet
- Center swivel nut breaks the line at the union
- Maximum working pressure: 230 PSI
- Maximum working temperature: 140 deg F
- Compatible with ID-sized polyethylene pipe, clear and braided vinyl tubing, garden hose, and washdown hose (paired with appropriate adapters)
Installation Tip: Thread the union body onto one male nipple first, hand-tight plus one to two turns past hand-tight using 2-3 wraps of PTFE tape. Then back the swivel nut off the body, thread the second male nipple into the opposite end of the body, align the two pipe runs, and bring the swivel nut down onto the second nipple. Hand-tighten the nut firmly - the internal seat compresses to seal. Do not use a pipe wrench on nylon threads; a strap wrench is acceptable for the final cinch. Overtightening cracks the body or strips the threads.
Selection Tip: 1-1/4" union suits commercial irrigation mains, ag drip-tape header supplies, and high-flow trunks where pipe shutoff for service is awkward. Pair with a 1-1/4" ball valve upstream for clean isolation at the union. Match the union size to the nominal pipe size of the run, not to the outside diameter of the tubing. For ID-sized polyethylene pipe transitions, pair the union with the matching ANKA insert adapter on each side.
Note: The 140 deg F / 230 PSI rating is at cold or moderately warm working temperature. Capacity derates above 100 deg F - do not install on water heater outlets, boiler feed lines, or hot-process washdown systems. Bury or sleeve runs that see prolonged direct sunlight; reinforced nylon resists UV better than plain nylon but still embrittles over multiple seasons of exposure. For potable supply runs, verify NSF Std 14 / 61 listing on the production lot stamp and confirm local code accepts nylon fittings on the supply side.
