PROLUXE DOOR & WINDOW SATIN FINISH   DARK OAK (1 QUART)

ProLuxe (formerly Sikkens Cetol) Door & Window Finish is a high-solids translucent alkyd exterior wood finish purpose-built for doors, window frames, garage doors, and other trim that goes through significant expansion and contraction with weather changes. The three-coat satin film blocks UV damage while letting the wood grain show through. Dark Oak is a deep warm-brown tone that delivers a traditional dark-stain look on lighter woods like pine, fir, and oak. Three coats build a noticeably darker furniture-quality finish.

  • 1 Quart container, alkyd-based translucent exterior wood finish
  • Satin sheen, dark oak translucent tint
  • Three-coat application required for full UV and moisture protection
  • Coverage: approximately 85-100 sq ft per quart, depending on wood porosity
  • Brush application only (long-handled natural-bristle brush recommended)
  • Recoat window: 24 hours between coats
  • Application temperature: 50-90 deg F
  • Clean tools with mineral spirits while wet
  • Mildew-resistant cured film

Surface Prep: Bare wood: sand to 100-150 grit, remove sanding dust, no filler or stain needed. Previously coated wood: clean with a TSP substitute, sand the satin sheen flat with 220 grit, then dust off. Do not apply over film-forming finishes (varnish, polyurethane, paint) - this product is designed to penetrate and then build a film, so a sealed substrate will reject it. Spot-bare and feather any flaking areas.

Application Tip: Stir thoroughly before and during use - do NOT shake, since shaking introduces bubbles in alkyd. Load the brush moderately and lay off with the wood grain in long even strokes, maintaining a wet edge. Three coats: first coat penetrates, second coat builds, third coat creates the satin sheen and full UV protection. Skipping the third coat halves the field life of the finish.

Selection Tip: Colorless = clear UV film only. Natural = mild amber enhancement. Dark Oak = traditional dark-stain look. Mahogany = reddish-brown furniture tone. Sample on a hidden area before committing - alkyd tones shift visibly with wood species, previous treatment, and the number of coats applied.

Note: ProLuxe Door & Window is formulated for high-movement trim. For house siding, fences, or decks, step over to ProLuxe SRD or ProLuxe Cetol 1/23 Plus lines which are tuned for those substrates. For interior wood, use a Cetol-interior product since this exterior formula contains UV stabilizers not needed indoors.
