Tip: Let the mallet do the work - a controlled, square strike sinks dowels and seats tile cleanly without overdriving. For installing ceramic tile, keep the head flat against a wood beating block over the tile so the impact spreads evenly and reduces the chance of cracking. Store the mallet hanging or handle-down so the rubber head does not develop a flat spot from sustained contact with the workbench.
