SCREEN RETAINER SPLINEReplace worn or torn screen spline and lock fresh screen mesh into a window or screen door frame. A round vinyl profile with a serrated grip face and hollow core wedges into the channel cleanly under a standard convex spline roller, holding fiberglass or aluminum mesh tight without slipping back out over season-to-season temperature swings.
- Diameter: 9/64"
- Length: 500 Ft
- Color: Gray
- Material: Top-quality vinyl with serrated outer surface for positive grip inside the frame channel
- Profile: Round cross-section with a hollow core that compresses during installation and rebounds to fill the channel uniformly
- Compatible with both fiberglass and aluminum screen mesh
- UV-stabilized vinyl formulation for prolonged exterior service in direct sun and weather
- Color guidance: black is preferred where the spline sees direct sun on window screens, since black vinyl hides UV-induced fade; gray blends with mill-finish aluminum trim, awning windows, and door insert frames
Tip: The workhorse residential size for fiberglass mesh in modern aluminum window screens; equivalent to .140" within 0.001". Always measure the diameter of the old spline before buying replacement -- the new spline should match the original within about 1/64" to ensure a tight seat. If the size feels borderline between two diameters, pick the slightly larger size since the hollow core will compress to fit. Use a convex spline-roller wheel to seat the spline into the channel; the concave wheel on the opposite side of the same tool is used first to press the mesh into the channel before the spline goes in. A 500 Ft contractor roll is sized for property-management bulk re-screening jobs.
