SABERDRIVE STAR DRIVE TRIM SCREW - #8 x 2-1/2" YELLOW ZINC

Midwest Fastener SaberDrive star drive trim screws are a finish-carpentry workhorse for interior wood trim, baseboards, casings, cabinet face frames, and panel work. The small trim head countersinks just below the surface for a clean look that takes wood putty cleanly, the T-10 star drive bites hard at high torque without cam-out, and the Type 17 self-starting auger point eliminates pre-drilling in most softwood and hardwood while reducing splitting near board ends.

  • Alloy steel, case hardened with yellow zinc plating for corrosion resistance
  • T-10 star (Torx-compatible) drive resists cam-out under impact-driver torque
  • Small trim head sits flush or slightly below the surface for a finished look
  • Type 17 auger point self-starts and reduces splitting near board edges
  • Coarse serrated thread bites aggressively for strong wood-to-wood hold
  • For interior trim, baseboard, casing, cabinet, and finish carpentry
  • #8 x 2-1/2" size, 1 lb tub

Installation Tip: Drive at moderate speed with an impact driver or drill/driver set to a low clutch setting and stop the moment the head pulls flush. For visible trim, drive 1/32" to 1/16" below the surface and fill with color-matched wood putty or filler. No pre-drilling is needed in standard pine or fir trim, but pre-drill at board ends and in dense hardwoods (oak, maple) to prevent splits.

Selection Tip: For solid grip, length should be about twice the thickness of the piece you are fastening through. The 2-1/2" length handles thicker built-up trim, crown moulding, and stair-tread risers where you need to anchor through 3/4" trim plus an underlayment or sub-trim into framing.
