How to apply: Sand bare wood with the grain, working from #120 grit through #150, #180 and #220, then remove all dust. Soft woods such as pine, fir, or maple need Varathane Wood Conditioner first. Stir thoroughly, apply across the grain with a brush or clean lint-free cloth until the wood is saturated, let the stain penetrate 5-10 minutes, then wipe the excess off in the direction of the grain before it dries. Longer penetration gives deeper color; a second coat may be applied after 2 hours. Apply between 55-90 deg F with relative humidity below 85 percent. Do not sand between coats. Clean up with mineral spirits or paint thinner.

Protecting the wood: Stain is color, not protection. Let it dry 8 hours before applying an oil-based finish or 24 hours before a water-based finish.

Danger: Rags, steel wool, or other waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, place them in a sealed, water-filled metal container.

Attention: Every monitor displays color differently. If the exact shade is important, contact the manufacturer for a color swatch before purchasing.
