ANDERSON METALS LEAD FREE BRASS HEX REDUCING NIPPLE - 1/2" X 3/8"
Step a 1/2" male NPT line down to 3/8" male NPT in a single fitting. The hex shoulder in the middle gives a wrench a clean purchase, so you can install or break the fitting loose without buggering up the threads on either end. Forged lead free brass keeps it safe on potable water service alongside its usual duties on instrument air, gauge ports, and fuel gas appliances.
- Male NPT x male NPT reducing nipple: 1/2" MIP on one end, 3/8" MIP on the other
- Forged hex body in the center for a 2-wrench install
- Lead free brass per Public Law 111-380, California AB1953, and Vermont S152 (less than 0.25 percent lead weighted average)
- Operating temperature range -65 deg F to +250 deg F
- Meets ASTM B584 brass casting spec and ASME/ANSI B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread spec
- Color: Brass
Tip: The 1/2" x 3/8" size is common where a 1/2" supply header feeds 3/8" appliance whips, hose bibs, or short fixture stubs. Apply 2-3 wraps of PTFE tape (or pipe dope rated for the service fluid) to the leading threads on both ends, then tighten 2-3 turns past hand tight - tapered NPT threads seal by interference, not by ham-fisted torque.
