DIABLO TYPE 1 THIN KERF METAL CUTTING DISC

Reinforced aluminum oxide cutoff wheel for handheld angle grinders. The thin .040" kerf removes less material per pass, which means the grinder spends its watts cutting rather than pushing - a clean, fast slice through steel rod, threaded rod, sheet metal, EMT, structural angle, and rebar with noticeably less heat blueing at the cut than a standard 1/8" wheel.

  • 4" outer diameter, .040" thin-kerf, 5/8" arbor
  • 15,250 max RPM - matches a compact 4" angle grinder or pneumatic cutoff tool
  • Type 1 (flat) profile for straight cutoff work, not grinding
  • Premium aluminum oxide grain in fiberglass-reinforced binder for steel, stainless, cast iron, angle iron, rebar, steel studs, and sheet metal
  • Lower amp draw than a thick wheel - the grinder holds RPM through the cut
  • Manufacturer Part Number: DBD040040101F

Selection Tip: 4" is the right size for compact cordless grinders (Milwaukee M12, Makita 12V CXT, Bosch 12V), pneumatic 90-deg cutoff tools, and detail work in tight quarters - cutting bolts inside a wheel well, trimming threaded rod next to a fixture, slicing copper or thin-wall conduit between joists. The 5/8" arbor is the standard for small-tool spindles; do not try to fit on a 4-1/2" angle grinder (different arbor and lower max RPM).

Use Tip: Let the disc come to full RPM before contact, hold a steady angle, and use light pressure - pushing harder loads the disc and burns the binder. Cut on the back half of the wheel (not the leading edge) for the cleanest line, and never side-load a Type 1 disc; thin-kerf wheels are made for cutting only, not edge grinding.

Safety: Always use the guard, full face shield, hearing protection, and leather gloves. Inspect the disc for cracks before mounting; retire any wheel that has been dropped or that shows a chipped edge.
