SEYMOUR ATLAS POST HOLE DIGGER

Heavy-duty Atlas-pattern post hole digger for setting fence posts, deck piers, mailbox posts, and sign posts in soil. The blades open to 5" when seated, which is the right bite for 4x4 wood posts and 3-1/2" round metal posts. Hardwood handles flex less than fiberglass at this length, giving a stiffer pull when lifting out plug-bound clay.

  • Atlas-pattern double-handled digger
  • 5" point spread at the blade tips
  • 4 Ft (48") hardwood handles, red head finish
  • Forward-tipped steel blades for soil bite
  • Hardwood pivot bolt with center stop
  • Weight: 8.5 lbs

Tip: Loosen soil 4-6" at a time with a digging bar or rock bar before scooping with the digger - lifting the digger straight up cleans the hole much faster than trying to chop and lift in the same stroke. For a standard 4x4 wood post, dig the hole 1/3 of the post length deep (e.g., 24" for a 6 Ft post).
