NORTON HOOK & SAND 5" SANDING DISC - P220 GRIT, 25 PACKNorton Hook & Sand discs use P-graded aluminum oxide abrasive on a fiber-reinforced C-weight paper backing for consistent scratch patterns and long disc life. The open-coat construction with Norton's No-Fil stearate anti-loading coating sheds dust and wood resin instead of glazing over, so each disc lasts longer than uncoated abrasive. Hook-and-loop backing lets you swap grits in seconds on any 5-inch random orbital sander.
- P220 grit - very fine grade for final pre-finish smoothing and top-coat scuffing
- 5-inch diameter, 8-hole pattern for dust extraction on universal vacuum-port sanders
- P-graded aluminum oxide grain for repeatable, consistent scratch patterns
- Open coat with Norton No-Fil stearate anti-loading coating
- C-weight fiber-reinforced paper backing resists tearing under continuous use
- Hook-and-loop attachment for fast grit changes between passes
- Max 15,000 RPM safe operating limit
- 25 discs per pack
Tip: Use P220 for the final pre-finish smoothing pass on bare wood ahead of varnish or polyurethane, and for scuff-sanding cured top coats for adhesion of the next clear coat. Avoid extended sanding in one spot - P220 burnishes softer woods quickly.
Sander fit: The 5-inch 8-hole hook-and-loop pattern is the universal vacuum-port layout for most modern 5-inch random orbital sanders (DeWalt DCW210 / DWE6423, Bosch ROS20VSC, Makita BO5041, Porter Cable 382, Festool ETS 125, Ridgid R2606, and similar). Use with vacuum extraction to extend disc life - clogged dust kills cut speed faster than worn grit.
Grit progression: Suggested bare-wood progression: P80 -> P120 -> P180 -> P220 for stain-grade furniture, or P80 -> P120 -> P150 for paint-grade work. Each step should fully remove the prior grit's scratch pattern - check with raking light. Skipping more than two grit steps (e.g., P60 jumping to P150) leaves coarse scratches that show through stain and clear finish.
