The EasyHeat ADKS-300 roof and gutter de-icing cable protects shingled roof edges, gutters, and downspouts against ice-dam damage by maintaining a continuous melt path that lets water drain instead of refreezing. The cable is constant-wattage (a steady 5 watts per linear foot, 300 watts total) and comes pre-terminated with a 6-foot grounded power cord - plug it into a GFCI 120 VAC outlet and switch on at the start of the cold season.

Selection Tip: A de-icing cable is laid in a zig-zag along the eave (typically 15-18" triangles) plus a straight run down each downspout, so the cable footage you need is roughly twice the roof-edge length plus the downspout length. The 60 Ft cable covers about 25-30 ft of roof edge. Step up to the 80 Ft, 100 Ft, or 120 Ft for longer eaves; step down to the 30 Ft for a short single run.

Install Tip: Install on a warm dry day in fall before the first hard freeze. Clean leaves out of the gutter first - debris insulates the cable and traps heat against the gutter. Use the supplied roof clips on shingle tabs (do NOT nail or staple through the cable) and run the cable down inside the downspout to ground level. Plug into a GFCI outlet only.

Safety: Never overlap or cross the cable on itself; constant-wattage cable will overheat at the crossing. Switch on only when temperatures drop near freezing; running it in warm weather wastes power and shortens cable life.
